Coleman A. Young II, 23, looks forward to serving the citizens of Detroit, as he believes it is his mission to carry on the legacy of his father, the late Coleman A. Young, who was the major of Detroit from 1974 to 1993.
He is a student at Wayne State University. Previously, he worked for the Detroit City Council Research & Analysis Division. He is also the host of "The Young Effect," a weekly talk show. He is a member of St. Paul Church of God In Christ and has acted in several plays in churches and at Wayne State University.
Coleman's legislative priorites are improving the economy and creating jobs, eliminating punitive property taxes, basic health care for every Michigan resident, capping interest rates on mortgages, loans and credit cards and stopping the unfair practice of insurance redlining.
